• New Player Evaluations •
One of the core philosophies of AYSO is "balanced teams." In order to properly balance teams within each division we need to evaluate new players to our region. All players in U8, U10, & U12 divsions that are new to Region 1505 must attend an evaluation day.
Players should come come prepared to play soccer (i.e. must wear shinguards and have a soccer ball). Evaluations will include small drills and short-sided scrimmages.

• Learning the Game •
Offsides - A player is offside if he or she is ahead of the ball at the moment the ball touches or is played by a member of the same team, except if that player:
- Is in his/her own half of the field
- Has 2 opponents even with or between him/her and the opponent's goal line (determined by the referee when the ball is played and not received).
- Is the first to receive the ball from a throw-in, corner kick, or goal kick
- Is not involved in active play by interfering with play, interfering with an opponent, or gaining an advantage by being in that position.
You can also
view a quick animation explaining the offside rule visually and in more detail.

Liberty Mutual’s Responsible Sports program supports volunteer youth sports coaches and parents who help our children succeed both on and off the field. Responsible Sports is a community-based program providing resources, tools, tips and advice from the youth sports experts at Positive Coaching Alliance for youth sport coaches and parents.
AYSO Region 1505 (San Elijo AYSO) is registered with the Responsible Sports program. For each person that takes the Responsible Sport Parenting and/or Responsible Coaching guides and quiz,
our region will be one step closer towards earning a $2500 grant.
Learn what it means to fill a player’s "Emotional Tank"; understand the ELM approach to coaching mastery; know what it means to "Honor the Game!" These guides typically take about 30 minutes to complete.
To get started, visit their website at www.responsiblesports.com.
